ANNOUNCEMENTS & PROJECT UPDATES

New electric line is now live, feeding power to airport

The Electric Power Constructors, INC crew was here on island for nearly 6 weeks over July and August. They installed new conduit in which to run the new electrical line. Pulling big wire through conduit required the use of a “willy’s winch” connected to an excavator to complete.  One of the runs was 2500 feet of electrical line. Sectionalizing cabinets were installed as well. They removed an old switch by the airport, which will be replaced with a new switch next year. We’re excited to announce that the City has switched over to the new electric line and it is now live, feeding power to the airport and receiving wind power from TDX Power. Additionally, the crew ran the orange conduit for the fiber line, which replaces the phone line.  The fiber crew came out and pulled the fiber through the conduit from the City’s power plant to the TDX wind generation plant, although this is not live yet.
