Prism’s crew arrived on the island in June, and work began starting with the demolition and removal of the fencing, the existing fuel pumps and disconnecting the fuel and electrical lines. The welders arrived in July. Preparation for the new fuel tanks began mid-June and they were finished being installed on July 3rd along with the racking for the tanks. Concrete pads for the pumps and for vehicles were poured in July and the rack for the meter installed. New spill containments were installed. New fencing was installed at the end of July. The control panels and conduit were installed in the fuel shack in August along with the POS system in the fuel shack to protect it from weather. Western Marine gave the city concrete Ecoblocks they were not needing anymore. The city is installing them in place of the retaining wall. There will also be Ecoblocks installed at the fuel pumps as a barrier to protect them from vehicles. The contractor expects the project to be completed by October 2026.
